about us
NeuArtica is a collaboration between biomedical researchers Ya Hui Hung and Roshan Dillon, and visual artist Louisa Bufardeci. We make art projects about the brain with, and for, children. For the A-mazing Brain! project we are working with Deanna Carpino from the Australian NPC Disease Foundation who is an advocate for children living with dementia. We want to know more about how kids imagine their brains – not in scientific terms, but in creative and metaphorical terms. We want to know this because we think children have an amazing capacity to imagine the world in different ways to adults, and we want to learn from them.

A-maze-ing Brain!
A-maze-ing Brain! is a giant brain-shaped maze co-created with children living with dementia and children with a range of abilities. This interactive art installation invites children to share the way they imagine their brain to be. It connects them with each other and the public in a fun, creative way. Developed by the NeuArtica team as a part of ArtPlay’s New Ideas Lab, this project bridges art, science and lived experience. It empowers children to think about their brains in a new way.
